Lee Gibson, Jr., 94, of Springfield, formerly of Milwaukee, WI, died at 7:00 am, Tuesday, January 16, 2024 at St. Clara’s Manor in Lincoln. He was born June 18, 1929 in Defiance, KY to Lee and Mary B. Watkins Gibson Sr. He married Marilyn J. Olson Lang.

He is survived by Marilyn, his wife of 49 years; three step daughters, Sheila (Joe) Snyder of Emden, IL, Connie S. Lang of Springfield and Michele M. Peeples of Racine WI; two sons, Dwight Lee (Jenna) Gibson of FL and Grant Myron Gibson of Henderson, KY; one step son, Bob Lang of Springfield; three grandchildren; four step grandchildren; one brother, Clyde (Faye) Gibson of Indiana and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Helen Barnett and Elizabeth Glasscock and one step grandchild.

Lee was a U.S. Army veteran serving during WWII and Korea. He was a welder with the Local 107 boiler makers in Milwaukee for 25 years retiring in 1994. He had been a coal miner at a young age. He loved his family and will be missed.

Visitation: 10:30 – 11:30 am, Tuesday, January 23, 2024 at Staab Funeral Home, Springfield.

Funeral Service: 11:30 am, Tuesday, January 23, 2024 at Staab Funeral Home Springfield with Chaplain Ellen Anderson officiating.

Burial to follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery where military honors will be conducted.

Memorial Contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
