Linda Lea Nowack, 78, of Sherman, IL, passed away on Wednesday, December 17, 2025, at her home. She was born March 15, 1947, in St. Louis, MO, the daughter of Lawrence Henry and Agnes Emma Clara Josephine (Schroeder) Signaigo. She married Frederick Anthony Nowack on May 11, 1968, and he preceded her in death on September 20, 2021.
Linda is survived by her two sons, Stephen (Emilee) Nowack; grandchildren, Izabel and Jaxson of Sherman, IL and David (Linda A.) Nowack; grandchildren, Amelia and Emmett of Springfield, IL; sister, Patricia “Pat” Oberkfell of Eureka, MO, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Linda attended St. Jerome Grade School. She went on to be in the first graduating class in 1965 of Rosemary High School in St. Louis, MO.
Linda held many occupations during her lifetime: Hair Stylist, Bus Driver, retail through Target (where she enjoyed working with/watching over her two sons and additionally mothering the other team members), and finally retiring in 2011 from Horace Mann Insurance Company. In her various occupational roles she always valued interactions with her fellow employees. This provided much meaning and purpose for her.
Linda was a member of Faith Bible Church in Springfield, IL. She was a devoted follower and enjoyed spending time with various members of the congregation.
Linda was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan, sharing that passion with both Steve and Dave. She was an animal lover. Linda and Fred even tried their hand at hobby farming–owning a horse, a cow, 2 ducks (and a goat for a day). She enjoyed eating at restaurants, beating the men in trap shooting, spending time with her family especially with her grandchildren. In the past, she could be found as a passenger on Fred’s motorcycle, only after insisting he got her a more comfortable seat.
Her family takes comfort in knowing they are once again reunited.
