Marian D. Rickey, 91, of Springfield, IL, passed away on Thursday, January 23, 2025. Marian was born on March 23, 1933, in Peoria, IL, the daughter of Rollin W. and Ruby M. (Petty) Robison. Marian married the love of her life, Elmer E. Rickey, on March 23, 1952, and he preceded her on death on May 26, 2021.

Marian is survived by daughters, Carrie (Kurt) Leininger of Petersburg and Connie Rickey of Springfield; son, Dennis (Rhonda) Rickey of Palatine, IL; three grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; sister, Carol (Charles) Smyser of Morton, IL; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Marian is preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Bob Rickey; sisters: Greta Chamberlain, Marilyn Lawrence, Barbara Miller, and Mary Ann Robison; and brothers: Kenneth, Rollin, Wayne Dean, Walter and Richard Robison.

Marian worked at the Illinois Farmer Union as the secretary for many years before becoming a homemaker. She enjoyed raising her family and participating in many activities. She was a wonderful mom and grandmother. She enjoyed participating in the Homemakers Extension Bowling Team, attending the women’s group at United Methodist Church, and volunteering at Memorial Medical Center. She also enjoyed the friendships with her coffee group. This coffee group was a group of seven ladies that met to have coffee and conversation. These ladies started meeting regularly in 1963.

Visitation: 11:00 am – 12:00 pm, Tuesday, January 28, 2025, at Staab Funeral Home – Springfield.

Funeral Service: 12:00 pm, Tuesday, January 28, 2025, at Staab Funeral Home – Springfield with Pastor Keith Masten officiating.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or American Heart Association.
