Marilyn Joann Tansky, 85, of Springfield, IL, passed away on Tuesday, April 29, 2025, at Arcadia Care in Auburn. She was born June 16, 1939, in Springfield, to Arthur and Isabelle Bouvet Green. She married William C. Tansky, Sr. on February 7, 1959, and he preceded her in death on October 15, 2008.

Survivors include four sons, William Charles (Joy) Tansky, Jr. of Dawson, Mark Alan Tansky of Springfield, Scott Erick Tansky of Springfield and Michael Shawn (Virginia) Tansky of Springfield; ten grandchildren, Justin (Irene) Tansky, Kimberly Tansky, Alex Tansky, Jordan Tansky, Shawn (Myesha) Tansky, Erick Tansky, Amy Tansky, Chance Tansky, Ryan (Bohdana) Tansky and Jenna (Rollie) Dennison; one great-grandchild, Izayiah; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and granddaughter, Brittney Tansky.

She worked as an operator for IL Bell Telephone Company, then provided for her family as a homemaker when her children were born.

Joann was a faithful member of Trinity Lutheran Church and became an office administrator there for many years after her children grew up. She was the best wife to the best organist in town, William, who played at church also.

Being a mother and grandmother was her greatest passion in life, and she will be missed dearly.

Cremation will be arranged by Staab Funeral Home – Springfield and a Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date.
