Mary Ann Newquist, 93 of Springfield, passed away on Tuesday, June 24, 2025, at Springfield Suites. She was born on September 6, 1931, in White City, IL to Louis and Norma (Simburger) Kratochvil. She married the love of her life, Donald H. Newquist on September 23, 1951, and he tragically passed away on January 16, 1967.

 She is also preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Laura Newquist; and nephew, Tim Kratochvil.

 Mary Ann is survived by her son, Brian Newquist; and special grandchild, Courtney Tepen of Edwardsville, IL; special great-grandchildren, Hadley and Bentley; brother, Roger (Mary) Kratochvil of Mt. Olive, IL; and niece, Jane Kratochvil.

 She was a 1949 graduate of Mt. Olive High School. Mary Ann had a long career with the State of IL Treasurer’s Office, retiring after 40 years of service.

 Mary Ann was a devoted mother who sacrificed a lot for her two children and loved both of them unconditionally. She will be greatly missed by all.

 Visitation: 10:00 – 11:00 am, Wednesday, July 2, 2025, at Staab Funeral Home – Springfield.

 Funeral Service: 11:00 AM, Wednesday, July 2, 2025, at Staab Funeral Home – Springfield. A burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery.
