Maryann Homeier Ream-Carnes, 92, of Springfield, IL, passed away on Friday, July 11, 2025. Maryann was born on September 9, 1932, in Springfield, IL. The eldest child of Christ and Lena Homeier. Maryann was married to Noel J. Ream and Llyod J. Carnes, and they both preceded her in death.

Maryann was a lifelong and proud resident of Springfield. Maryann graduated from Springfield High School in 1951. She worked at Homeier Dairy, when the dairy closed, she worked with the University of Illinois: Services for Crippled Children, and then for the State of Illinois Department of Public Health, where she retired in 2008 after 40 years of serviceMaryann was a member of the Beta Sigma Phi for over 60 years, Quota International, and the former Luther Memorial Lutheran Church.

She truly enjoyed life – a master at planning get togethers, especially parties that all enjoyed through the years.

Preceding her in death were her parents; husbands, Noel and Lloyd; brothers, William, Walter, and John Homeier; stepchildren, Bruce Carnes and Theresa Schultz; and many other beloved family members.

Surviving her are her stepchildren, Valerie Ausmus and Brian (Tina) Carnes; special sons, Fariborz Kayyod and Brent (Jan) Baird; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sister, Helen Harmony of Springfield; brother, Chris (Dorothy) Homeier III; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews.

Maryann would want you to remember her for her love of life and her fun-loving spirit. She will be missed, but she gave a lot while on earth, a real special friend, lady and boss. A quality of loving and living life to the fullest.

Visitation: 11:00 am – 12:30 pm, Saturday, July 19, 2025, at Staab Funeral Home – Sherman.

Funeral Service: 12:30 pm, Saturday, July 19, 2025, at Staab Funeral Home – Sherman with Cindy Lash officiating. A Celebration of Maryann’s life will take place immediately following the funeral at Poe’s on the Hill in Sherman, IL.

Graveside Service: 11:00 am, Monday, July 21, 2025, at Camp Butler National Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to HOPE – Springfield, IL, or to Shriners Hospitals for Children.
