Michael W. Megginson, 75, of Estero, FL, passed away on Monday, January 20, 2025. Michael was born on August 14, 1949, in Springfield, IL, the son of Ralph Megginson and Leila Boblitt Megginson. Michael married the love of his life, Sandra Colson, on July 31, 1971, and she survives.

Mike is also survived by his daughter, Amie (Bryce) Austin of Lakeville, MN; sons, Bryan (Kara) Megginson and Chad (Jessica) Megginson, both of Pawnee, IL; seven grandchildren, Blake, Kayla, Lane, Lydia, Lance Megginson, Liam, and Kellen Austin; and sister, Carole Christner of Orlando, FL.  

Mike is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Norman Megginson.

Mike graduated from Pawnee High School. He then went on to graduate from University of Illinois Urbana–Champaign with an Agricultural Economics degree. While at the U of I, he was a member of the Alpha Gamma Rho Fraternity, where he made many lifetime friendships. He then went on to work on his family farm for many years in Pawnee and farmed soybeans and corn.

He then retired and happily moved to Florida in 2008. He also enjoyed golfing, especially at the Illini Country Club and various golf courses in Florida. He also picked up boating as a favorite pastime and loved taking his boat out in the Gulf of Mexico.

Visitation: 4:00 – 7:00 pm, Tuesday, January 28, 2025, at Staab Funeral Home – Springfield.

Funeral Service: 10:00 am, Wednesday, January 29, 2025, at Staab Funeral Home – Springfield. A burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Ronald McDonald House.
