Richard “Larry” Sloan, 86, of Springfield, died at 7:55 pm, April 18, 2024. He was born January 6, 1938 near Blue Mound, IL, to Henry Lee and Lola Mildred Lind Sloan. He married Carolyn Meyer on April 1, 1967, and she survives.

Also surviving are on daughter, Sheila (Mark) Harris of Casper, WY; two grandsons, Braeden and Takoda Harris and two granddaughters, Acacia and Cyndel Harris; one brother Kenneth Dale (Linda) Sloan of Travares, FL and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Larry was a member of Elm Street Christian Church.

He was a retired farmer and worked for the Dairy Herd Improvement Association for twenty-eight years.

He enjoyed fishing; hunting; going to Gospel Sings and listening to baseball and NASCAR.

Visitation: 10 am – 11:30 am, Monday, April 22, 2024, at Elm Street Christian Church.

Funeral Service: 11:30 am, Monday, April 22, 2024, at Elm Street Christian Church. Graveside service: 10:00 am, Tuesday, April 23, 2024 at Old Stonington Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Elm Street Christian Church; Stonington First Baptist Church; the Animal Protective League or The Joy of Movement, 11749 W. Loami Road, Loami, IL 62661.
