Samuel J. Falzone, 90, of Springfield, passed away at his home on Wednesday, July 10, 2024. He was born July 12, 1933 in Springfield, to Louis Falzone, Sr. and Virginia Burris Falzone. He married his love, Bonnie R. Marconi on November 12, 1955.
Bonnie R. Falzone, 86, of Springfield, passed away at her home on Wednesday, July 10, 2024. She was born December 30, 1937 in Springfield, to Fred and Ann Veronica Goleash Marconi. She married Samuel J. Falzone on November 12, 1955.
Samuel was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Veronica “Vicki” Ann Hayes; granddaughter, Brandi Hayes; and three brothers, Paul, Louis Jr., and Robert Falzone.
Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Veronica “Vicki” Ann Hayes; granddaughter, Brandi Hayes and ten siblings.
Sam and Bonnie had almost 70 years of a beautiful marriage, and in that time they did most things together, and not breaking that tradition, they passed away together.
They are survived by their son-in-law, Russell Hayes of Nashville, TN; one grandson, Chad Russell (wife, Maria) Hayes of Nashville, TN; grandchildren, Nolan and Eliza Hayes; and Sam’s brother, John Falzone.
Samuel was a United States Army veteran serving during the Korean War. He worked as an auto mechanic for forty years. He naturally loved all sorts of vehicles, owning dozens through the years. You could often find Sam watching Western tv shows and movies, which were his favorites.
Bonnie worked as a salesclerk for twenty-five years at Bergner’s. She was also an accomplished seamstress on the side. She loved watching sports from the Chicago Bulls with Michael Jordan to the St. Louis Cardinals, but what she loved most was watching her grandson Chad play ball.
Sam and Bonnie were of the Catholic Faith and longtime members of St. Aloysius Catholic Church.
Graveside Service: 2:00 pm, Monday, July 15, 2024, at Camp Butler National Cemetery with Reverend George Nellikunnel officiating. Military honors will also be conducted for Sam’s service to our country.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in memory of Sam and Bonnie to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, cff.org.
