Susan Lynn Boone, 76, of Springfield, passed away on Monday, December 30, 2024. Susan was born on July 1, 1948, in Springfield, the daughter of Howard Owen and Gloria “June” (Wolf) Scott.

Susan is survived by her beloved daughter, Kelly (Dr. George) McKenna of Peoria; sister-in-law, Janet Scott; and several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews; and many dear friends.

Preceding her in death are her parents; brother, Robert Scott; and sister-in-law, Linda Scott.

Susan was a Sangamon County Deputy Coroner for 17 years and was elected Sangamon County Coroner serving for 14 years.

She was a woman of great faith, where she was a member of West Side Christian Church. Susan lived to cook, paint, and draw and was an exercise enthusiast. Susan was awarded the Gift of Hope Living Partnership Award in 2007. She also loved spending time with her cherished Brittany Spaniel, Lyza.

Susan will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Memorial Gathering: 4:00 – 6:00 pm, Friday, January 3, 2025, at Staab Funeral Home – Springfield.

Memorial Service: 6:00 pm, Friday, January 3, 2025, at Staab Funeral Home – Springfield with Pastor Bennie Fisher officiating.
