Thomas H. Paoni Sr., 88, of Springfield, passed away on Monday, April 28, 2025. He was born on April 16, 1937, in Springfield, son of John Henry and Mae Pearl (Grigsby) Paoni. He married Mary Robinson in 2009, and she survives.

He is also survived by his five children: Ronald Paoni of Springfield, Lori (Joseph) White of Chandlerville, David (Barb) Paoni of Springfield, Joseph (Melanie) Paoni of Auburn, and Jerald (Leann) Paoni of Dawson; stepdaughter, Patricia Trader of New Berlin; nine grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; brothers, Charles (Alice) Paoni of Springfield and Bill (Doris) Paoni of West Virginia; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Thomas is preceded in death by his parents; sons, Thomas Paoni Jr. and John Henry Paoni; sister, Pam Pruitt; and brother, Jack Paoni.

Thomas was a heavy equipment operator for the City of Springfield and previously was a construction siding applicator.

Upon his retirement, he was able to spend his free time doing some of his favorite hobbies including yardwork and growing his knowledge of cars. He was a member of Cool Cruisers and Route 66 Cruisers.

Visitation: 11 am – 12:30 pm, Monday, May 5, 2025, at Staab Funeral Home – Springfield.

Funeral: 12:30 pm, Monday, May 5, 2025, at Staab Funeral Home – Springfield with Pastor Robert Gebhardt officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Animal protective League.
