Thomas L. Clement, Sr., 77 of Springfield, passed away on Monday, March 3, 2023. Thomas was one of twelve children born to Clifford and Velma Cook Clement, Sr in Springfield on December 23, 1945. He married Shirley Sirtout and they had two Children. He later married Melody Smothers and she preceded him in death.

Also preceding him in death are his parents; two sisters, Cathy Roman and Susie Fouks; two brothers, John and William Clement.

He is survived by one son, Tommy Jr. and one daughter, Carla Seifert; seven grandchildren, Ryan Wicks, Austin Burger, Ty Seifert, Lane Seifert and Eden Clement; one great grandson, Kaiser Wicks; four sisters, Patricia Knox, Nancy (Dave) Hamilton, Linda (Roger) Harmon, and Diana (Bill) Callahan; three Brothers, Clifford (Judy) Clement, Jr., James (Ruth) Clement, and Larry (Verna) Clement and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Tom was a US Army veteran serving from 1965-1968 during the Vietnam War.

He retired from Bordon Chemical after twenty-five years of service. After retirement, he worked for Aerus Electrolux and became very active in the veterans community.

He was a member of VFW Post #10302, VVA “Vietnam Veterans of America” #534; Howard County Vietnam Veterans Organization and American Legion Post #809.

Tom as passionate about helping other veterans. He enjoyed tinkering in his garage and working on antique cars. He was proud of his green thumb and the many houseplants that he kept. He also enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson. Most of all, he cherished the relationships with his family and friends. He was especially grateful for the help of William Cook, Jr. and Ed Painter for helping him complete projects that he no longer was able to do.

Visitation: 2 – 4 pm, Sunday, March 12, 2023 at Staab Funeral Home – Springfield.

Funeral Service: 11:30 am, Monday, March 13, 2023 at Staab Funeral Home – Springfield, with Pastor Louis Kunz officiating. Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery, where Military Honors will be conducted.
