Thomas “Tom” W. Bolinger 74, of Springfield, died at 3:30 pm, Monday, August 26, 2024 at his home. He was born August 12, 1950 in Springfield, to the late Wayne Irvan and Virginia Elaine (Luce) Bolinger.

Survivors include two brothers, John (Donna) Bolinger of Springfield and Chris (Peggy Raabe) Bolinger of Petersburg; two nieces, Kirsten (Zach) Beaman of Taylorville and Katie Bolinger of St. Louis; three nephews, Eric (Rachel) Bolinger of Springfield, Andrew (Amber) Bolinger of Girard and Kyle (Ashlee) Bolinger of Springfield; one great-nephew and two great-nieces.

Tom retired from the Illinois State Police after 20 years of service as a Crime Studies Field Analyst. After retirement, he worked part-time for OraTech as a delivery driver. Tom was an avid pickle ball player and played at various courts around Springfield. He made numerous friends in the league and spoke often of the joy he derived from his favorite sport.

Tom loved service organizations and was active in many to include AFSCME, the local AARP chapter; Elks Club, and Scottish Rite. He was a member of the Illinois State Rifle Association and an active member of Tyrian Masonic Lodge 333 for forty-seven years.

Funeral Service: 4:00 pm, Tuesday, September 10, 2024 at Staab Funeral Home – Springfield.

 Visitation: 4:30 pm - 7:00 pm, Tuesday, September 10, 2024 at Staab Funeral Home - Springfield.

A private burial at Oak Ridge cemetery will be at a later date.

Memorial Contributions may be made to the Springfield Pickleball Club, c/o Jim Hagerman, 2409 Wimbledon Place, Springfield, IL 62704.
