Velda L. Fafoglia, 95, of Springfield, IL, passed away on Monday, April 15, 2024 at Springfield Memorial Hospital. She was born on May 25, 1928 in Springfield, to Dale and Mamie Saunders Gibbs. She married Lindo Fafoglia on August 31, 1953 and he preceded her in death on December 6, 2014.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; and seven siblings, Wilma Foster, Jean Carter, Lori Goodman, Shirley Bombrough, Marilyn Maxwell, Merle Gibbs, and Delbert Gibbs.
Velda is survived by her son, Mark Fafoglia of Springfield; brother-in-law, Otto Fafoglia of Chatham; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Velda was a lifelong resident of Springfield and worked for 25 years at the State of Illinois in the Department of Revenue.
Cremation will be arranged by Staab Funeral Home – Springfield.
Graveside Service: 11:00 am, Monday, April 22, 2024 at Camp Butler National Cemetery with Deacon Larry Smith officiating.
