Vincent Joseph Weller, 18, of Rochester, passed away on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, at Springfield Memorial Hospital. He was born on June 23, 2008, in Springfield, the son of David Joseph and Elizabeth (Wyse) Weller.

He is survived by his parents, David and Elizabeth Weller of Rochester; younger sister, Arabella Weller of Rochester; maternal grandmother, Helen Baker (companion, Volkert VonHillebrandt) of Taylorville; paternal grandparents, Terry Lee and Sharon Ann Weller of Rochester; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

He is preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, James Robert Wyse, Jr.

Vincent graduated with Honors from Rochester High School on May 17, 2026. He was known by teachers and classmates for his high intelligence, his drive to succeed academically, his quick wit, and occasional class clown mischief. He had been accepted to Lincoln Land Community College’s High Honors Program, where he planned to study accounting. He then planned to transfer to an undecided university to pursue a bachelor’s degree in actuarial sciences. He was excited about combining his love of math with his goal of building a stable, impactful career.

Outside of school, Vince worked at Blastoff Kids Academy, where he was a caring and dependable childcare team member. He had a natural way with children and was loved by the kids and staff alike for his patience, high energy, playful spirit, and the genuine attention he gave each child in his care. Vince was known to the children as Mr. Vince and Iron Man.

Vincent had a creative, inventive spirit and loved building things with his hands, whether it was woodworking projects or coming up with new ideas to solve everyday problems.

At Real Life Church, Vince was an active member of the Grindstone Youth Group. He participated in weekly gatherings, where he formed new friendships. He was baptized on January 4, 2026. He was working on building a stronger relationship with God. His faith and his church family were deeply important to him.

Vincent was a dedicated athlete who ran track and played baseball for Rochester High School. He brought the same energy to sports that he did to everything else; encouraging teammates, showing up early, and never giving up.

Music was one of Vincent’s greatest joys. He was a trumpet player since 5th grade and a dedicated member of the Rochester High School band. A highlight of his senior year was traveling to Disney World with the high school marching band, color guard, poms, and chorus during the week of March 18 to March 25, 2026. Vince got to march in the parade at Magic Kingdom — up Main Street toward the Castle, circling in front of it, and back down the street. It was amazing! He was proud and grateful to be a part of it all. He loved every minute of it, especially getting to share the experience with his friends.

Each day of the trip was designated for a different Disney park. Between rehearsals, the students had freedom to explore in small groups; Epcot the first day, then Disney Springs, followed by Animal Kingdom, Magic Kingdom, and Hollywood Studios before heading home. Vince and his friends enjoyed the independence of choosing attractions, rides, restaurants, and shows throughout Disney World, and he had a blast at the pizza & pool party at the hotel. He talked about the trip for months afterward and called it “epic.”

In addition to playing the trumpet, Vince also played guitar, composed music on his computer, and had more recently started teaching himself to play the piano in his spare time. Vince loved playing video games with his sister. He also loved hanging out with his friends and was always ready for a good time!

Vincent also performed with Springfield Dance, where he began in hip hop classes and grew into a standout performer. He loved to dance and perform. He also learned some ballet for many of the performances where his timing, acting, and stage presence were remarkable. He worked closely with the younger performers, helping them with acting and reacting on stage, and was instrumental in setting several complex, busy scenes. On stage, he captured audiences playing roles such as Flynn Rider in Rapunzel, Gaston in Beauty and the Beast, and the Prince in Snow White. He also performed with Copper Coin Ballet Company as a court person in their production of Cinderella. His partnership work in Rapunzel created especially touching moments that moved many to tears night after night. Kind and respectful to all of the children, Vincent was adored by the entire dance family for his humor, heart, and the way he made everyone around him feel better.

Vince loved his family and friends wholeheartedly. He was a very kind, generous, caring, sensitive, empathetic person with a big heart. He was deeply loved and will be missed tremendously.

Visitation: 12:00 – 2:00 pm, Monday, July 6, 2026, at Real Life Church.

Funeral Service: 2:00 pm, Monday, July 6, 2026, at Real Life Church, with Pastor Blake Thomas officiating. A burial will follow at Rochester Cemetery.
