William M. “Mike” Harbour 73, of Springfield, died at 11:45 AM Thursday, August 29, 2024 at Springfield Memorial Hospital. He was born January 8, 1951 in Springfield to John H. and Alma Lucille (Dickey) Harbour, Sr. He married Diann Lynn Marburger on October 20, 1979 and she survives.
Also surviving are two children, Michael (Mindy) Harbour of Conroe, TX and Jennifer (Jose) Martinez of Fort Worth, TX; two grandchildren, Zoe Harbour and Jaylynn Martinez, with baby boy Martinez on the way; one sister, Lou Ann (Robert) Way of Corsicana, TX and one brother, John H. Harbour, Jr. of Ft. Meyers, FL, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Linda Kay Hammond; one sister-in-law, Nancy Harbour and one nephew, Brian Way.
Mike was a US Army veteran serving from 1972-1974. He retired in 2011 from the Illinois Department of Public Health and had previously worked for Pillsbury and IBEW.
He was a member of Elks #158 and a former member of the Aqua Sports Club. He enjoyed the St. Louis Cardinals, Dallas Cowboys, and NASCAR. He enjoyed watching his children participate in sports. He also enjoyed watching sports on T.V. He was an avid gardener and loved planting a garden in the spring. He also was an avid bowler in the past. He really enjoyed sitting around the table playing cards and dominos with his friends and family.
Visitation: 9:30am – 11: 30 am, Thursday, September 5, 2024 at Staab Funeral Home – Springfield.
Funeral Service: 11:30 am, Thursday, September 5, 2024 at Staab Funeral Home – Springfield with Pastor Linda Strader officiating. Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery, where military honors will be conducted.
The family encourages guests to wear casual or sports attire.
